Maldives Aviation Forum 2026 Explores the Future of Aviation Connectivity and Industry Growth

The third edition of the annual Maldives Aviation Forum, organized by Medium Events, was successfully held on 12 May 2026 at JEN Maldives Malé by Shangri-La under the theme “Connecting Maldives.”


The aviation industry event brought together leading stakeholders from the Maldives aviation sector, transportation industry, logistics companies, regulators, airlines, airports, and aviation support service providers to discuss the future of aviation connectivity, operational efficiency, and sustainable industry growth in the Maldives.


Recognized as one of the leading aviation conferences in the Maldives, the Aviation Forum 2026 served as a key platform for industry leaders and policymakers to exchange insights on the challenges facing the aviation sector while identifying opportunities for innovation, investment, and regional connectivity.


Key Aviation Industry Stakeholders Attend Maldives Aviation Forum 2026

The forum attracted participation from major aviation and transportation organizations, including First National Finance Corporation, Island Aviation Services, Manta Air, Maldives Airports Company Limited, Inner Maldives, Payload Maldives Private Limited, Maldives Civil Aviation Authority, Villa Air, Trans Maldivian Airways, Skylane Holdings, Maldives Ports Limited, Maldives Customs Service, All H Maldives Private Limited, Avia Maldives, SITA, and BeOnd.


The strong participation from airlines, airport operators, regulators, logistics providers, and aviation technology companies highlighted the growing importance of collaboration in strengthening the Maldives’ aviation ecosystem and transportation infrastructure.


Panel Discussions Focus on the Future of Maldives Aviation

This year’s Maldives Aviation Forum featured four major panel discussions focusing on key developments shaping the future of aviation in the Maldives and the wider Indian Ocean region.


1-      Capacity, Revenue, and Operational Efficiency

The first session, “The New Journey in 3-Parts: Capacity, Revenue & Efficiency,” explored how airlines and aviation operators can improve operational sustainability, maximize revenue opportunities, and increase efficiency while responding to changing market demands.


2-      Reforming Competitive Connectivity in the Maldives

The second panel discussion, “Reforming Competitive Connectivity,” focused on improving domestic and international connectivity through aviation policy reform, infrastructure investment, and stronger collaboration between public and private sector stakeholders.


Industry experts discussed the importance of expanding air connectivity to support tourism growth, trade, and economic development across the Maldives.


3-      Maldives as a Sea-to-Air Cargo Transshipment Hub

The third session, “Logistics Gateway: Scaling the Sea-to-Air Cargo Transshipment Hub,” examined the Maldives’ potential to become a strategic logistics and cargo transshipment hub within the Indian Ocean.

Speakers highlighted emerging opportunities in air cargo, sea-to-air logistics operations, and regional trade connectivity that could strengthen the Maldives’ position within global supply chains.


4-      The Future of Domestic Aviation Beyond the Twin Otter

The final panel discussion, “Beyond the Twin-Otter,” focused on the modernization of domestic aviation in the Maldives, including fleet diversification, emerging aviation technologies, and future transportation solutions designed to meet the unique operational requirements of island connectivity.


Medium Events Highlights Industry Collaboration and Growth

Speaking during the forum, Medium Events Director Sham Mohamed thanked aviation industry stakeholders and supporting partners for the continued support the event has received over the years.


He noted that the steady growth of the Aviation Forum reflects the increasing importance of collaboration, innovation, and open dialogue in addressing the evolving needs of the Maldives aviation and transportation sectors.


Over the years, the Maldives Aviation Forum has established itself as one of the country’s leading aviation industry events, providing a valuable platform for networking, knowledge-sharing, and strategic discussions that contribute to the long-term development of aviation in the Maldives.
